Jane Marion Wright
age 93 of Algonac MI. and a summertime resident of Harsens Island at the family’s century old summer home, passed away June 3, 2012. She was born December 23, 1918 in Detroit, MI., the only child of the late Albert and Marion (nee Osgood) Wright. Her maternal grandparents David H. and Alice (nee Balls) Osgood and paternal grandparents Harold and Hannah Wright.
Jane was a charter member of the Clay Twp. Historical Society which is now the Algonac-Clay Twp. Historical Society, where she was also a Historian. She wrote historical articles for both the Anchor Bay Beacon and the Delta News (Harsens Island). Her grandfather David H. Osgood was the original contractor for St. Mark’s Church on Harsens Island (he also built some of the Century Homes on the island). She was a former member of the Olympia Skating Club, now the Detroit Skating club. And was a founding member of the Harsens Island Preservation Association.
Miss Wright is survived by her cousins Jean (the late James) Osgood-Nelson, Grace Osgood-Dodson, Milton (the late Evelyn) Osgood, Dorothy (the late Tivadar) Balogh, Lucy (Anthony) Burby-Mastro, dear friends Gary and the late Ann Grout, Mary Ann Smith, and Richard and Kathryne Pruner.
Funeral services 7:00 PM Wednesday June 6, 2012 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI. Visitation 1-4 and 6:00 PM until time of service Wednesday. Burial will be in the Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit. Memorial donations may be made to the Algonac-Clay Historical Society.
