Sandra “Sandy” Lee Weaver
of Harsens Island, Michigan died Friday, March 26 at home. She was 56.

Born Dec. 4, 1953, Sandy grew up in New Haven, Richmond and Algonac. She graduated in 1972 from Richmond High School. Shortly after high school, Sandy met Michael Weaver on a blind double date. They married in 1974. The couple created a home on Harsens Island and together raised their four children while running the Weaver family business – Weavers Market.

An integral part of daily life on Harsens Island, Weavers Market, offered Sandy a place to interact with her neighbors and share her culinary talents. She touched many lives by cooking and catering for weddings, showers and other celebrations.

While the market consumed her time, Sandy’s family was her purpose.

“For my mom, our family was always the center of everything,” said Jennifer Weaver, Sandy’s daughter. “After I had my youngest son, my mom would travel to Waterford just to let me get some rest. That’s who my mom was. She was amazing, strong and beautiful.”

Sandy is survived by her mother Katherine Worswick and siblings Grant  Dryer, DeAnn (James) Miller and Ward (Kimberly) Dryer. She leaves to mourn husband Michael H., children Jennifer (Marc) Carter, Michael (Jessie), Mitchell and Marshall, grandchildren Zachary, Christopher, Seth Charles and Henry. She is predeceased by her father Dean Dryer.

Sandy was laid to rest at Oaklawn Cemetery in Algonac. Gilbert Funeral Home of Algonac handled arrangements. A private family service was held. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held this summer.
