James Max Robertson
age 92 of Harsens Island, MI. passed away peacefully December 11, 2009 in his home. He was born February 6, 1917 in Detroit to the late Max and Almeda Robertson. Jim first married Alice Frisinger who preceded him in death in 1985. He then married Mary Lou Blakely who preceded him in death in 2008.
Mr. Robertson was an avid boater, a life member of the U.S. Power Squadron and a past president of the Detroit Chapter of the Power Squadron. In his early years, Jim enjoyed coming to Harsens Island by boat so much that he finally bought his own home on the island, where he spent the rest of his life. Jim owned his own business building theatrical scenery for many local theaters, made many displays for the Auto Shows and sets for the local Detroit television stations. He retired from the business after 61 years. Jim also enjoyed traveling and made many trips on Cruise Ships to various ports of the world. His favorite place to travel was The School House in Cedar, MI. with his second wife Mary Lou. Jim was also very active with the St. Paulís Church on Harsens Island. He enjoyed helping with many of the fund raisers especially the annual Strawberry Social.
Jim is survived by a daughter Joan Hart, grandchildren; Pat, Kelly, Tim, David and Dawn, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Bob and a granddaughter Laura.Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paulís Church, Harsens Island or to the St. Johnís Hospice of Clinton Twp., MI. Arrangements by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac, MI.
