"Nina" Arnetta Kathyrn Johnson (Christoff) ,
age 68, died surrounded by her family in WV on Dec. 21 after a ten month long journey with cancer.
She was born Nov. 29, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Albert Christoff and Mildred Emily (Wolfe) Christoff.
She blessed all with her sense of humour and generosity . Herself confessed hobby was shopping for those she loved. Nina's true passion was traveling, her favorite destinations were Italy and Spain.
She described herself as a "culture junkie and travel addict" . A wish of hers was to have world peace and she lived it, as she was an involved peace activist and also enjoyed working on the Obama campaign in the last election. Reading and listening to a music of all cultures were also her passions.
Nina is survived by her husband, James Otis Johnson, of Harsens Island, daughter, Holly Hinkle, (son-in-law) Matthew Hinkle, grandsons, Alexander "Max" Yax, and Mateo Hinkle of Dry Fork, WV.
She was predeceased by her children Kimberly A. Johnson, James O. Johnson, and Jack J.B. Johnson. Sisters Patty Lenchus and Shirley Viennese.
She resided on Harsens Island, Mich. , in Everglades City, Fl. and Bowden , WV.
Visitation will be on Dec. 27 at the Gilbert Funeral Home in Algonac, MI. from 2-4pm and 6-9pm. The Funeral will be on Dec. 28 at St. Marks Catholic Church on Harsens Island, MI at 11:00am. Father Sig Kowalczyk will be doing the mass. Funeral procession to St. Catherines Cemetery will follow the service. A luncheon will be held in her memory at 1pm at the Lions Hall on Harsens Island.
