Paul Guy Hemenger
age 77, a lifelong resident of Algonac, died Saturday, April 5, 2008 in St. Johns River District Hospital. He was born September 1, 1930, in St. Clair Hospital.
Paul had many happy memories of growing up on the St. Clair River with his five sisters and brothers. By the age of two, he was able to swim without assistance which caused much distress to the unsuspecting as they watched a toddler dive into the river.
Mr. Hemenger graduated from Algonac High School in 1948 and promptly joined the Army Air Corps as an airplane mechanic. He participated in the Berlin Air Lift and was given an honorable discharge in 1952. He married Loretta Nahdee in 1957 and raised five children in Algonac.
Paul is survived by; children, Trudy Vinke and Judy Plonke of New Baltimore, Pat (Cindy) Hemenger of Algonac, Sandra (Jim) Walters of Shorewood, MN, Susan (Andrew) Wrobel of Harsens Island, Richard and Guy Hemenger of Algonac; siblings, Tom (Darlene) Hemenger of Rochester Hills, Pat (Joyce) Hemenger of Yellow Springs, OH, and Elizabeth (James) Hill of Gull Lake; grandchildren, Heather, Christen, Alicia, Alex, Candace, Anna, Paul, and Melissa; great grandchildren, Faith Philliann and Joanna Geremesz. He was predeceased by his parents Guy and Lucille Hemenger; brother, Richard Hemenger, and a sister Sara Chalgain.
A memorial service will be held at the Seafarers Hall, 520 St. Clair River Dr. Algonac, Sunday April 20, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. luncheon to follow immediately after.
The family wishes to send a special Thank You to the Clay Twp. Fire and Rescue along with the Tri-county ambulance service for all of their courteous and compassionate services.
